I’m Andy Durack. I’m a professional writer and marketing strategist who has spent 15 years helping hundreds of businesses define and deliver their message, from Australia’s largest brands to its most exciting start-ups, and in almost every industry from pet funerals to mine automation. I’ve held senior marketing positions within $300m+ businesses, led strategy teams within a number of marketing agencies and am sought out to complete contracts as a creative director and copywriter across Australia.

There are some great agencies out there, and if that model suits you then go for it. I’m not anti-agency, in fact my work supports theirs entirely. After going through my process I can help you select the best agencies to complete specific tasks. The briefing and messaging will all be done, so they will theoretically be able to hit the ground running, making life easier (and cheaper) for everyone. My one big advantage is that I am independent. I don’t have mouths to feed, so you won’t see me recommending tactics that pay my salaries, over ones that improve your business.

Because internal resources typically get sucked into the day to day and within three months of working in a business find it very hard to pull themselves out and look at it from a top level. I work very closely with your internal resources - the relationship is not adversarial at all. I support them in pulling everything together and articulating things clearly. If they can do it all themselves then you’ve found a unicorn and should increase their pay.

Good question. We’re all experienced in different ways and bring different skill sets. Sometimes another approach will work better for you. Speak to a bunch of people and see what seems like the best fit. If you need more of a sales strategy go with a sales guy. If you need clarity on your marketing, go with me.
